The stresses of modern life make it difficult to slow down long enough for us to listen to our selves, our hearts, and to each other. By taking time to develop awareness and mindfulness, we can begin the process of positive change. Life is complex and there are often many layers to a problem. Our time together is designed to uncover and explore those layers and develop an action-oriented plan to resolve conflicts and move towards a greater authenticity of self.
My approach incorporates the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as developed by Aaron Beck, MD. This focuses on changing the way you feel by changing the way you view yourself and others, your problems, and the world. This is achieved by altering your perceptions and the way you look at situations, the way you think and, ultimately, the way you respond.
I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral techniques when working with couples as the assumptions, beliefs and distortions of each individual can escalate anger, mistrust and lack of communication between one another.
We will also draw upon other psychotherapeutic techniques to help you gain new understanding of how your past and old patterns continue to effect your life. Together, we will explore your unique challenges and develop new ways of being so you can experience more satisfaction, greater well-being and health, and improved relationships with yourself and others.
